Balaton Wine Region
According to the organisers of Fügefeszt (Fig Festival) there is not one season, but seasons, and Lake Balaton offers excitement all year round, making it worth mooring on the lakeshore. This autumn, for the first time, Fügefeszt (Fig Festival) will be held at a special location right on the shore of Lake Balaton, which, although the host has chosen to call it after the juicy figs that are everywhere this time of year, is actually about much more: Péter Vincze and his team would like to showcase the region’s cultural and gastronomic evolution, and open up the invitation to other Hungarian restaurants with similar values. Almost unbelievable, but this will be the first gastronomic festival truly organised on the shore of Lake Balaton!
The two-day event will not only attract guests looking for quality catering, but also the industry, giving chefs and restaurant owners the opportunity for informal discussions and inspiration. Besides tastings, the focus will be on workshops, presentations and cooking shows on stage, with figs as the main ingredient.
The leading and trend-setting hospitality outlets and wineries from Hungary and Lake Balaton will be participating:
IKON – Debrecen (Michelin recommended), Bistro Sparhelt – Balatonfüred (BIB Gourmand Michelin), Veganeeta/Megfőzzük Almádit! – Balatonalmádi, Gusto 13 – Veszprém, Hableány – Badacsony, Palkonyha – Palkonya, FELIX Kitchen&Bar – Budapest (Michelin recommended), Kisbolt Desszertműhely – Szigliget, KicsiZsó BBQ by Horváth Zsolt – Budapest, Creative Kitchen by John’s Pub – Keszthely, Rolling Chef – Veszprém, Szakállas Medve – Budapest, Szabi a Pék, Panificio il Basilico – Szentendre, Laposa Estate – Badacsony, Fata Winery – Badacsony, Borbély Winery – Badacsony, VáliBor – Badacsony, Dobosi Winery – Szentantalfa, Martinus Estate – Tagyon, Egly Winery - Sümeg, Pállfy Winery – Köveskál, Bujdosó Winery – Balatonboglár, Mérce Prosecco/Champagne/Cocktail Bar – Szigliget
Nothing can complete the perfect gastronomic experience like live music - and of course, the rippling waters of Lake Balaton right next to you. A sip of wine, something delicious to eat, the sight of the sunset and the sounds of a concert - they all come together to create unforgettable moments. This will be aided by a selection of jazz and popular music performers, and Saturday's headliner, the Tapolca-born Vera Tóth, is as much at home at Lake Balaton as she is on stage. Performers: Vera Tóth and the Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Vagabond, P.A.R.T.
