1 DAY TOUR

Csongrád Wine District

1. day tour

In the morning, take a stroll around the cultural capital of the wine district, Szeged, located right in the centre of the Southern Great Plain. There is a multitude of cultural activities on offer, be it one of the exhibitions at the Ferenc Móra Museum or a visit to the Votive Church, better known as the Szeged Cathedral. Soak up Szeged’s Mediterranean atmosphere, the colourful crowds on the pedestrianised streets and the sight of palm trees on the terraces and enjoy the temptations of its restaurants and cafés.

Anyone who has already seen Szeged’s must-see sights should visit the New Synagogue or the Franciscan Church and Visitor Centre in the lower town, or the statue known by the locals by the name ‘Lófara’ (Horseback-end) next to the Reök Palace, which houses the city’s best confectionery as well as the Regional Art Centre and its enticing exhibitions.

For lunch, choose from the numerous restaurants (cevapi fans will not be disappointed here thanks to the nearby Serbian border) and in the afternoon, go and visit a winery on the edge of Mórahalom or Ásotthalom. After some tasting, relax in the St Elizabeth Spa in Mórahalom.
