Start the day at the Sphere Lookout (Gömbkilátó) in Balatonboglár, where you can admire one of the southern shore’s most beautiful panoramas, then, if you like, you can try out the summer toboggan run in the neighbouring adventure park. Visit Dániel Berzsenyi’s former mansion in Nikla, which now houses a museum, followed by the poet’s imposing tomb in the Nikla cemetery.
Stop off for lunch in Fonyód, then visit the local ceramics manufactory in Szőlőskislak, where you can learn about this wonderful profession and, of course, buy some lovely bowls and other ceramic goods.
Now it’s also time for something to do with wine: do some wine tasting at a new winery nearby and then take a trip to Kishegy in Balatonlelle and discover the renowned Kishegy wineries. Don’t miss the charming St Donat’s Chapel and then dine in one of the nearby inns on Kishegy offering beautiful views not only of the valleys and hills of Somogy and the Kétágú Hill in Fonyód but also of Lake Balaton and the volcanic buttes, so-called witness mountains, of the northern shore. According to many, this is the most beautiful viewpoint on Lake Balaton, from which you can see the former volcanoes of the northern shore.
