Since the 19th century the Barcza family owned vineyards on the Badacsony hills, however the territory we have now was purchased by my grandfather nearly 30 years ago. We have put our wines on market in 2017 and named the winery after our unique row distance. Previously on these lands row and variety experiments took place with Pinot Gris and Rhein Riesling. The rows were planted with 2.4m, 3m, 3.5m and 4.8m space between them. In the Hungarian viticulture nobody else is using the row distance of almost five meters, so the name was obvious: “Four80”. The fermentation of our wines traditionally spontaneous, so every vintage is a new adventure.
