Owned by three classical musicians, Tokaj Classic is situated in the town of Mád. Seven "grand cru" hectares in the Király and Betsek areas are planted with Furmint, Hárslevelü and Yellow Muscatel. For centuries, the Mád vineyards were the property of Hungarian and Habsburg nobility. Although the nobility has departed, the noble character of the wines lives on. Hugh Johnson, the renowned wine writer, remarked that he was in no doubt that Tokaji is the greatest sweet wine in the world. Tokaj Classic's traditional cellar techniques are balanced by applying a contemporary approach in the vineyard. The grapevines, between 20 and 30 years old, are at the prime of their development. They are cultivated to produce an extremely low yield, amounting to 800-1000 bottles of 6p. aszú per hectare..The wines have been awarded six consecutive Gold Medals at the IWSC (London), commending the Aszú 6 puttonyos. This international success is without parallel in the recent history of Hungarian wine
