8 great wine events for the second half of the summer

As we enter the second half of the summer, let us bring you more ammunition from the exciting wine festivals and other wine events taking place around the country. From Zalaszabar to Mád, the end of July and August events will focus on Hungarian wine, with gastronomic, cultural and musical programmes to explore.

In the summer heat, what could be more appealing than visiting a cool wine cellar, sipping a rosé on the waterfront, or enjoying a refreshing glass of wine in a hillside vineyard? These experiences await you at the events on our list, so it's worth continuing to plan your holiday with wine festivals across Hungary.

1. Mád – “Zsendülés” – 22-23 July

For Tokaj wine lovers, it's a good idea to spend the penultimate weekend of July at the event called “Zsendülés” in Mád, where three wineries will once again team up to create a great programme. This time, TR Winery will host the event, while Dorka Homoky and Zsirai Winery will be the guest wineries. On Saturday there will be a tour of the vineyards, followed by an open-air dinner, and on Sunday there will be a breakfast and a wine market.

2. Eger - VINO Wine Tasting Festival in Eger - 26-30 July

In the last days of July, Eger's wine district will be in the limelight: all the major wineries from Eger Wine District will be present on Dobó Square, Eger's main square, and local gastro producers will also bring their products to the VINO Wine Tasting Festival. And if the gastronomic cavalcade wasn’t enough entertainment, while you are getting to know the wines, you can also listen to the performers of the Street Music Competition, thus completing the experience by relying on all your senses.
