The main event of the summit was a two-day professional program in Budapest. On the first day, masterclasses presented the most important Hungarian wine varieties and styles – from sparkling wines and volcanic terroir selections to the sweet wines of Tokaj. At the end of the day, guests were treated to a more relaxed atmosphere: thirty wineries presented their wines at the Goulash Party held at the Petneházy ApartHotel.
The second day was dedicated to building business relationships: more than 100 international buyers held a total of 1,200 targeted B2B meetings with nearly 80 participating wineries. In the Tasting Zone, guests could enjoy a selection of 233 Hungarian wines.
One of the most important innovations of this year's Summit was the Study Tour program, which was expanded to twice its previous size, allowing guests to visit up to four different wine regions in just one week. Conducted in two rounds, the tours offered participants the chance to discover iconic regions such as Tokaj, Eger, Szekszárd, Villány and the Balaton area, while this year’s newcomers – Budafok, Pannonhalma, Sopron, and Etyek – also joined as full partners. Each stop featured cellar visits and walk-around tastings, providing a more personal, human-scale experience, adding faces and stories to the wines.
The Study Tour routes included:
The official program was complemented by a rich series of evening events. Visitors could take part in a wine bar tour, a “natural wine discovery” tasting, a “wine & chocolate” pairing, as well as a bathing with sparkling wines and a street food tour.
The BOR 2025 Hungarian Wine Summit is a professional platform, a business meeting point, and an experience-based gastronomic journey all at once. While the event was outstanding in terms of numbers, its real value lies in the personal experiences that Hungarian winemakers and wine regions provide to an international audience,” emphasized Pál Rókusfalvy, Government Commissioner for National Wine Marketing.
The clear message of the event is that Hungarian wine is competitive internationally in terms of its diversity, quality, and history—and that the professional and business relationships that have now been established will serve to expand Hungarian wine exports in the long term.
