The Hungarian Wine Summit, the biggest international wine trade event of the year, is coming up

The Hungarian Wine Summit, which will take place from 21-25 April, offers a unique opportunity for Hungarian winemakers to build their international relationships in a domestic environment and to seize opportunities in Europe, North America and Asia.

The five-day event aims to reposition Hungary and Hungarian winemakers globally by expanding international business and trade opportunities. The event will provide a comprehensive wine marketing opportunity that will allow the spotlight to be shown on less well-known Hungarian wines, as well as strategically highlighted varieties.

The Hungarian Wine Summit, under the auspices of the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency and in line with the National Wine Marketing Strategy, offers a revamped opportunity for merchants, importers, writers and Masters of Wine from international target markets to discover hundreds of Hungarian wines.

On 22 April, the conference will be held in Millenáris Park, where participants will have the chance to learn about the diversity of the Hungarian wine world, the most important varieties, styles and wine regions from the perspective of prominent figures in the Hungarian wine industry and international experts. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of award-winning wines, Tokaj sweet wines, volcanic wines, light reds, indigenous varieties, sustainable winemaking, new wave solutions from young winemakers and sparkling wines in masterclasses, while tasting will take centre stage in the afternoon.

The special “tasting zone” and “B2B matchmaking arena” will offer a special opportunity for hospitality professionals to taste nearly 500 wines from 150 Hungarian wineries and then meet the producers in 15-minute slots, helping winemakers and importers meet each other.

There will be a field trip starting from the third day of the conference, during which trade visitors will have the opportunity to explore Hungary’s wine regions for three days, following the themes of the masterclasses. These study tours will take participants to the wine regions of Eger, Tokaj, Balaton, Szekszárd and Etyek, bringing the conference presentations to life and giving winemakers the opportunity to present their wines in a more personal way too.

The aim of this tradition-building event is to increase the competitiveness of Hungary’s wines in our existing and future export markets, so that they once again occupy a worthy place on the international wine map. In the long term, the Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency intends to launch a series of internationally renowned events this year, which, besides promoting wine exports, will also help build the county’s image and become key wine events in the Central and Eastern European region.
